Operation Santa 2011 a Success!

On December 17th and 18th, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation visited the homes of Chicago police officers who were killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty.  Through "Operation Santa," we were able to bring joy to the children of our officers and let them know that they haven't been forgotten.

Santa and Mrs. Claus boarded a Secret Service Presidential limousine and traveled in a police motorcade throughout the Chicago area delivering gifts to our families.  Each child of a fallen or catastrophically injured officer was presented with a gift personally selected for them.  We also brought gifts to the children of Chicago police officers who are deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.  This experience is truly one of the anticipated events for our staff and our many volunteers, and was an uplifting experience.

We received some excellent coverage in the news. The following are links to media articles and TV coverage:

This could have never happened without the help of our volunteers. Thank you to all who came with us and donated funds so the CPMF could undertake this! We also express our deep gratitude to Macy's for sponsoring this event.
