Detective Wayne King, while conducting an investi- gation of offenders impersonating police officers and city building inspectors, noticed a suspicious man standing nearby. Upon Detective King's approach, the man fled. Detective King apprehended the man after a short chase. A struggle ensued, during which the offender gained possession of the officer's gun and fired. The brave detective was fatally shot.
