Reflections
PO Brandon was my cousin. I remember the funeral procession each time I drive down 87th because as a child I was so amazed by the number of cars lined up for miles. I became a police officer in 2006 and thought about requesting Dorrelle's star number but I didnt although I did end up with a four digit star like she had. :-)
Today is not a holiday, not her birthday just any old ordinary day, but it is a day that I though about and missed my aunt/god mother.I was only 10years old at the time of her death but,oh how i miss her and all the joy she brought in my life and now i can show the same to my 2 sons. Today i smile when relatives tell me that i put them in the mind of her by my attitude or gestures. i just smile, let my light shine and know she lives in my heart and soul. I miss you auntie..My idol today and everyday. -- Tonya Scott 2/12/2009 ****************
I was a high school student the day Officer Brandon died. I remember hearing about it on the news. I was extremely moved by what happened. I always thought about her and her sacrifice. She was a true hero to me and from that tragic day on I knew I wanted to follow in her footsteps and become a law enforcement officer. I will always remember her and I proudly serve the community in her honor. --Cmdr. James A. Pickett, Evanston, Il. Police Dept. 12/05/2007
I was assigned to the 003 District when Dorelle lost her life. It was painful for everyone in 003 to loose her after knowing her. For me, it is painful beyond words when an officer from C.P.D. is killed in the line of duty. Dorelle was so young. She is an officer that I have not forgotten and never will. --P.O.
