P.O. John Gilhooly #3502

Officer John Gilhooly learned that armed offenders had taken refuge in an abandoned building. Officer Gilhooly and assisting units surrounded the building. During the ensuing gun battle, an offender jumped from a window and fired at Officer Gilhooly, striking him. The courageous officer died in the hospital the following morning. Officer Frank Rappaport was also fatally wounded in the incident.
