On 09 Aug 1942, Officer O'Donnell was assisting two injured pedestrians into a police ambulance, from an earlier hit-and-run accident, when a drunk driver slammed into the police ambulance. Officer O'Donnell suffered traumatic injuries. He died as a result of his injuries sustained. |
