P.O. Joseph Hastings #6384

While on patrol, Officer Joseph Hastings conducted routine checks of various businesses on his beat. Officer Hastings was confronted by five gunmen committing an armed robbery of an office. This office was being used to issue welfare payments to citizens stricken by the Great Depression. The offenders opened fire. The heroic officer was fatally wounded in the encounter.
