My thoughts and prayers are with Michael's family. I live on Prairie Ave in South Loop and would pass by the officers who work outside the mayor's home. I have seen Officer Bailey many times and have felt safe as I walked along Indiana. I know all of us who pass you by on a regular basis feel comfort of your presence. I will miss Officer Bailey and hope the people who caused this tragedy are caught and brought to justice.

I have known Officer Bailey for many years and was grieved at yet another loss of a fine, outstanding family member and productive member of society. He was a hard, diligent worker who always had a smile to give. Working with Mike has many memories of good times, laughter and humor. He will be missed. I was looking forward to seeing him in personnel in a few weeks as he turned in his old star and id and received the new ones. I hurt and am grieved. My prayers are with Jada and Mike, Jr. as well as the entire family. God bless you all!!
I am a better person for having known you and every person that had the pleasure of working with you probably feels the same way. You will be soorly missed. RIP
My condolences to the Chicago Police Family AGAIN this year. My family, who lost my dear uncle, Sgt Jim Severin July 17th, 1970, was spending time down at his old station(the 18th) to reflect on the 40th anniversary of his murder on Saturday. We usually bring food and spend a few hours talking to the men and women of the 18th. We thank them for their service to the city. We heard that they all feel like there is not enough officers on the street.....that the danger is approaching those horrible years when we were losing one officer a month back in the 60's and 70's. Now another........my heart sank when I saw the Chicago Tribune this morning........I saw that modest car that Officer Bailey has purchased for his retirement......I saw his daughter......my heart goes out to his family and to all CPD officers out on the streets....please be careful......Officer Bailey's family does not suffer alone......we are all in mourning................
May god bless you my brother.
A tear - a loss for us all
My sincerest condolences to Officer Bailey's Family

My deepest sympathies go out to the family of Officer Michael Bailey and the Chicago Police Department for their loss. As the daughter of a Chicago Police Department veteran and the cousin and friend of other police officers with the department, this senseless murder - the second in two weeks for the department - both sickens and frightens me. My thoughts and prayers are with Officer Bailey's family.
Officer Bailey, may you rest in peace and God bless you for a job well done. May God comfort your family.
I knew Officer Michael Bailey personally. He was a man of great integrity and great humility. He was a great instructor of self-defense and Tai Chi, and he taught with a spirit of love that could only come from God. He will be missed, and he was loved by all of us who were fortunate enough to have been in his presence. My prayers go out to his family, and all of those who have been affected by this tragedy.
The men and women of PPPD mourn, with our fellow officers the loss of our brother officer CPD Officer Michael R. Bailey, 20-year veteran.
Deepest sympathy to Officer Bailey's family and the CPD family.
