While on patrol, Officer Miles Cunningham ran to investigate an automobile accident. Unknown to Officer Cunningham, the five men in one of the cars were attempting an escape after robbing two bank messengers. When Officer Cunningham approached to see if he could assist any injured people, the robbers opened fire with a machine gun. The multiple gunshot wounds sustained by the brave officer were fatal. |
