Reflections

My thanks to Mr. Russell Schultz for running in the Run to Remember on 30 Apr 2011. Thanks for not forgetting my dad, Officer Thomas Glynn, after all these years. I am Officer Glynn's third child out of seven. I am into my 28th year on the Chicago Police Department. I am assigned to the 008th District. Just like my dad. My brother Tommy, is also assigned to the 008th District as a sergeant. The "In Memoriam" wall in the new 008th District proudly displays his picture as making the "ultimate" sacrifice. I am very proud to pass that wall everyday. Thanks again Mr. Schultz for remembering a true hero.

On April 30, 2011, for the second time, I am participating in the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation's Run To Remember. I am running to honor Officer Thomas J. Glynn #6933 and the other 549 Chicago Police Officers who have died serving and protecting the residents of Chicago. I did not know Officer Glynn, nor do I know his family. However, he served in the 008th District where I grew up, and died on 20 September 1974 when I was 5 years old. You can read about my decision to participate on my personal event webpage at: http://www.active.com/donate/r2rememb2011/RAS .
