On 14 Sep 1978, Sgt. Janowski was en route to Illinois Masonic Hospital to investigate a traffic fatality when his squad car was struck by drunk driver speeding through a red light. The vehicle hit the squad car on the driver's side and sent it over the curb, then into a light post and building. |
