Sergeant Edward Crowley and his partner, Officer Donald McCormick, attempted to arrest a wanted armed robber at his apartment. Suddenly, the gunman drew a revolver and fired, striking Officer McCormick. During the ensuing struggle, Sergeant Crowley was shot as well. Both dedicated officers were fatally wounded in the encounter. |
