Sergeant Collins was pursuing a traffic violator, and while in immediate pursuit, his squad car was forced into the rear of a parked truck by the fleeing motorist. Sergeant Collins was taken to the hospital where he died two hours later from chest injuries sustained. |
Reflections
Sgt. Jack Collins was a great leader in the Area #2 and #4 Task Force for many years. He was a good father and always took time to be with his children. He loved the Chicago Police Dept. and the officers that worked for him. We spent many hours together and all the officers on his watch respected him. -- Mark Morrissey retired CPD (2004) 09/08/08
