Sergeant Cronin was a long-time Chicago policeman with 40 years on the job when he was struck by an automobile while inspecting a car parked near his station on June 3, 1931. Sergeant Cronin was rushed to Garfield Park Hospital after the accident and succumbed to his injuries a short time later. Sergeant Cronin was the beloved husband of the late Mary Cronin and was survived b his three children, Catherine, John and Thomas.
