A huge, beautiful evergreen tree has been planted at Gold Star Families Memorial and Park on April 1st. The tree was originally donated by Laurie Damgaard and Paul Guzzetta of Kaneville Tree Farm to Tom and Laura Ricketts of Cubs Care for display and use during the Christmas season for the team’s Cubs Care charitable events. After the season was over, the tree was removed and cared for by Christy Webber of Christy Webber Landscapes and eventually donated to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation in honor of Ronald Damgaard, Laurie’s father, who planted many trees in the Chicago area during his lifetime. Christy Webber again donated her time and efforts planting the tree at our Gold Star Families Memorial and Park where it now stands proudly. We are so grateful to all of the parties involved in getting us this beautiful tree! We are planning to hold a Gold Star Families tree trimming event in remembrance of our fallen officers and to help kick off Operation Santa and the Christmas season. Stay tuned for more details! A big thank you to Laurie Damgaard, Paul Guzzetta, Tom and Laura Ricketts and Christy Webber for the care, donation and planting of this beautiful tree and for their support of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation and the families of Chicago’s fallen and catastrophically injured police heroes.
