Thursday, September 26 – The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation chartered a bus and traveled to the office of the IL Prisoner Review Board in Springfield with 20 uniformed Chicago police officers to oppose the release of inmate Charles Connolly. Connolly murdered PO Thomas Kelly and shot his partner, PO Thomas Neustrom, during a traffic stop in March 1970. Following a brief presentation of the case by one of the board members, a motion to deny parole was put to vote. The final count was 15-0 and the motion carried. A second motion for a five year set also carried unanimously. The inmate will remain in prison for another 5 years until his case again comes before the IPRB. THANK YOU to the officers who made the trip in support of PO Kelly and his family. You have truly honored your promise to “Never Forget.”
