On November 2nd the Executive Board of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation approved the following:
The Foundation is offering tuition assistance for grammar school and high school for children of officers killed in the line of duty. The 100 Club will cover college for children of officers killed in the line of duty.
The Foundation is offering tuition assistance for grammar school, high school and college for children of officers catastrophically injured in the line of duty
The foundation is offering a 1,000.00 education expense grant for all children of police officers killed and catastrophically injured in the line of duty each school year to cover miscellaneous expenses
The Executive Board also approved that payroll contributions will only be used to cover the above expenses and no operating expenses of the Foundation will be paid out of payroll contributions
Since the death benefit was approved in July, the Memorial Foundation has paid out $15,000.00 to the spouses of six police officers who have died.
The Executive Board also approved at the July meeting the payment of the insurance premium for officers who are terminally ill.
