This year our committee selected three charities to benefit our first responders and service men and women. The charities are:

Chicago Police Memorial Foundation

The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to honoring the lives of our fallen heroes. The Foundation provides support and assistance to the families of Chicago police officers who are killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty.

Ignite the Spirit

Ignite the Spirit is an ongoing charity that was created to raise funds for Chicago's firefighters, paramedics, and their families in a time of need.

SALUTE, INC.

SALUTE, INC. is dedicated to meeting the financial, physical, and emotional needs of injured military service members, veterans, and their families.

First Responders Prayer Service

On Tuesday, October 16th, the 19th Ward Youth Foundation & Catholic Charities’ Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide (LOSS) will host a prayer service in support of first responders at 7:00pm at the Saint Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel, 7740 S. Western Ave. We’re inviting you and your family to come together in faith and recognize the difficulties that too many of our first responders quietly struggle with. We’re all in this together and we must continue to be there for each other. 

Please share this invitation with anyone who might be interested. We hope you can join us on Tuesday, October 16th to show support for our first responders.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Free parking is available at the club and also in the overflow lot at the corner of Touhy and Cumberland. The Metra - Union Pacific Northwest line Park Ridge stop is a 3-minute walk to the club.

What should I wear to the event?
Comfortable workout clothes/shoes and water bottle

Bill HB 5513 Signing Ceremony

A bill signing ceremony wherein Governor Bruce Rauner will sign Illinois House Bill 4471 into Law. HB 5513 amends the Illinois Lottery Law to include the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation in a scratch-off Illinois Lottery game which benefits Illinois police memorials. It provides that the net revenue from that game shall be divided equally for distribution into the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation Fund, the Police Memorial Committee Fund, and the Illinois State Police Memorial Fund and shall be used to fund grants for building and maintaining memorials and parks; holding annual memorial commemorations; giving scholarships to children of officers killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty, or those interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement or provides for the replacement of protective vests; and providing financial assistance to police officers and their families when a police officer is killed or injured in the line of duty.

The 14th Annual Area 4 Ride to Remember Memorial Motorcycle Ride is July 29, 2018.

When:  Sunday, July 29, 2018 - 9:00 a.m.
Where:  Former Area Four Detective Headquarters, 3151 W. Harrison - Harrison & Kedzie - West Parking Lot, Chicago, Illinois 60612.
Registration:  7:30 - 8:30 a.m. sign in and line up.  Online registration is available for a small convenience fee.
Pre-Registration:  Register by July 15, 2018 to ensure t-shirt delivery on day of ride.
Registration Fee:  Rider $30.00  Passenger $30.00
After July 15, 2018:  Rider $35.00  Passenger $35.00

Registration Includes:  Memorial ride, Ride to Remember t-shirt, and party for all participants at Teamsters Local 705 Union Hall 1645 W. Jackson Blvd. Chicago, IL 60612

Food / Live music / Refreshments

The ride leaves the former Area Four Detective Headquarters at 9.00 a.m. and travels south on the Boulevards and east to the Memorial Site along the Lake Front where there will be a short program.  All proceeds are donated to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.  The event is open to the public and all makes and models are welcome.  Thank you for your support.

The 17th anniversary of Brian Strouse’s death will be commemorated with a CPD Roll Call at the corner of 18th Place and Loomis on Thursday evening, June 28th, at 5:00pm.

On June 30, 2001 Chicago Police Officer Brian Strouse was killed in the line of duty. Officer Stouse was a six year veteran of the Chicago Police Department and had already received 61 commendations and a life-saving award. While his death was a tragic loss for the city of Chicago and the Pilsen community his legacy will be one of hope and achievement. In commemoration of the seventeenth anniversary of Officer Strouse’s death, a scholarship will be awarded annually to a son or daughter of a Chicago Police Officer. The Brian Strouse Memorial Scholarship was created by an anonymous donor, on the tenth EOW anniversary in 2011, in loving memory of Brian Strouse.

The Chicago Police Honor Guard will also be conducting a vigil at Gold Star Families Memorial and Park beginning Monday, April 30th, at 12:01 AM and concluding 24 hours later at 11:59 PMthat same day. 

All Gold Star Family members are welcome and encouraged to come out and view this tribute to our fallen. The Honor Guard will assist anyone who wishes to bring flowers or wreaths in placing them in a ceremonial fashion.
