||Detective Clayton Robinson, 39, was a 6-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to Detective Division – Area #6. On October 25, 1968, Detective Clayton Robinson was questioning a suspect near Larabee and Blackhawk Streets. As the officer questioned George Robinson, the suspect drew a gun and shot Officer Robinson. Two officers that had responded to the scene for assistance returned fire, fatally wounding the offender. Officer Robinson was transported to Henrotin Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds at 1:30 a.m., on October 26, 1968. Officer Robinson’s funeral mass was held at Joseph’s Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Louise, and children, Annette, Randy, Clayton Jr., and Debra.
