Incident Details: | Detective-Sergeant Frank Dealy, 49, was a 12-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the 32nd Precinct.
On October 05, 1914, Detective-Sergeant Dealy saw two men loitering on Halsted Street and Grand Avenue. The detective-sergeant approached the men and attempted to question them when both men drew their weapons and shot him. Patrons of a nearby saloon heard the gunfire and rushed to the injured officer’s side. Detective-Sergeant Dealy was rushed to a hospital where he died in his wife’s arms. Detective-Sergeant Dealy laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery. He was survived by his wife, Rose, and children, Gertrude, May, Stelia, Bernice, Raymond, and Florence.
