|Incident Details:||Police Officer Arthur Esau, 32, was a 12-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the Town Hall Station.
On April 27, 1928, Officer Esau walked into a robbery-in-progress occurring inside a drugstore in the 3400 North block of Clark Street. The armed robbers, Charles Waltz and Anthony Greco, had forced the clerk and a customer into a backroom moments before the officer walked in. Waltz drew his gun at the officer and then shot him.
Charles Walz and Anthony Greco were found guilty and died in the electric chair at Cook County Jail.
Officer Esau was laid to rest in Eden Cemetery.
