||Police Officer Arthur Swanson, 39, was a 10-year veteran of the Chicago Park District Police, assigned to the Motorcycle Division.
On May 14, 1936, Officer Swanson was injured while riding his police motorcycle near Michigan Avenue and 36thStreet. The officer drove over an oil spot on Michigan Avenue causing him to lose control of the motorcycle and overturn. He was transported to Mercy Hospital where he died on May 21, 1936Officer Swanson was laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, and two children. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
