||Police Officer Bruce Garrison, 29, was a 3-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the Special Operations Group — Area 6. On February 27, 1974, Officer Garrison and his partner, Officer William Marsek, 28, pursued a suspicious man into a bar on the 1800 block of West Foster Avenue. When the officers entered the establishment a struggle ensued and the offender, Jacob Cohen, opened fire. Officer Marsek and Officer Garrison were both fatally wounded. Jacob Cohen was killed in an exchange of gunfire with Milwaukee police. Officer Garrison was laid to rest in Oak Ridge Cemetery. He was survived by his sons, Brett and Michel; mother, Edna; and his sister Nancy.
