||Police Officer Casey Tristano, 45, was a 17-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to Area 5 Youth Division. On March 13, 1970, Officer Tristano was dispatched to assist officers in quelling a fight at Our Lady Help of Christians School located in the 800 block of North LeClaire Avenue. Officer Tristano was in the process of arresting Joseph Maltese when the youth struck him in the face. The officer collapsed at the School after having difficulty breathing and bleeding from his nose. Officer Tristano was pronounced dead at St. Anne’s Hospital. Joseph Maltese, 17, was charged with battery, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. He received a fine for the incident. Four juveniles were charged with disorderly conduct, but their cases were dismissed. Officer Tristano’s funeral mass was held at St. Mary of the Woods Church and he was laid to rest in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and children, Maria and Casey Jr.
