|Incident Details:||Detective-Sergeant Charles Paldina, 33, was assigned to the Detective Division.
On January 20, 1922, Detective-Sergeant Paldina was searching for a wanted offender, Charles Neuman. The detective-sergeant received a tip that Neuman was at a saloon in the 900 block of South Desplaines Street. When Neuman spotted Detective-Sergeant Paldina he opened fire; wounding him. The sergeant returned fire and fatally wounded the Neuman. Both men were taken to Cook County Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
Detective-Sergeant Paldina was laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery. He was survived by his wife.
