|Incident Details:||Police Officer Edward Cleary, 31, was assigned to the Maxwell Street Station.
On November 29, 1924, Officer Cleary responded to a call about a man loitering outside of a house in the 1200 block of West Maxwell Street. When the officer arrived at the scene, the man opened fire, killing Officer Cleary.
No one was ever convicted of the crime.
Officer Cleary's funeral mass was held at St. Cecelia Church and he was laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
