|Incident Details:||Police Officer Edward Dean, 38, was assigned to the Summerdale Station.
On July 11, 1925, Officer Dean was detailed to escort Richard Kane, a clerk of the Chicago Motor Coach Company. Kane was in charge of carrying and distributing the company's payroll. Four robbers, one of which was armed, entered the company's office where they discovered Kane and the officer. Officer Dean and one of the armed offenders opened fire on each other; the officer was injured. Officer Dean was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Officer Dean was laid to rest in Rosehill Cemetery.
