|Incident Details:||Police Officer Frank McGlynn, 27, was a 6-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the 14th District.
On July 18, 1924, Officer McGlynn was assigned to escort an employee of The Stearns Lime and Cement Company as he transported $6,000. Officer McGlynn and the employed were ambushed by three armed men. The offenders shot the officer three times. The employee was unhurt in the incident. Officer McGlynn died at the scene.
George Meade and Raymond Kelly were sentenced to life in prison.
Officer McGlynn was laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
