|Incident Details:||Police Officer George Krum, 35, was a 6-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the Canalport Avenue Station.
On November 1, 1894, Officer Krum heard a disturbance coming from a tenement home at 161 West 20th Street. The officer entered the building at approximately 1:30 a.m., and ordered the people to quiet down. His request was met with gunfire. Con Burns opened fire and shot Officer Krum four times. The officer was able to return fire and fatally wounded Burns. Officers on patrol nearby heard the gunfire and went to the scene. They discovered Officer Krum’s body on the front steps of the building.
