|Incident Details:||Police Officer George Schlinger, 39, was assigned to the Des Plaines Street Station.
On October 5, 1891, Officer Schlinger was fatally wounded after responding to a domestic disturbance. A man alerted Officer Schlinger that two men were trying to kill a woman in a basement apartment. Officer Schlinger was fatally wounded by Mike Moriarty after he entered the basement. Officer Schlinger succumbed to his injuries on October 10, 1891.
The day before Officer Schlinger died he had rescued two children from a fire.
He is survived by a widow and four children.
