|Incident Details:||Police Officer Hugh Kennedy, 35, was assigned to the West North Avenue Station.
On January 19, 1931, Officer Kennedy was discovered dead in an empty lot at 52nd Street and Ogden Avenue. The officer had suffered a gunshot wound to the head, a broken back, and internal injuries. Officer Kennedy’s gun was eventually found in the possession of four youths. The youths claimed that they had stolen the gun from the residence of Vito Lotresci and Sam Lotresci.
Vito Lotresci and Sam Lotresci were never charged due to a lack of evidence.
Officer Kennedy was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. He was survived by his wife, Angela.
