Police Officer James Mulcahy, 29, was assigned to the 3rd Precinct.
On August 23, 1920, Officer Mulcahy and his partner, William Hennesy, 29, were assigned to gather intelligence on a tavern located in the 2700 block of South State Street. While the officers were inside, an argument broke out between Hirsche Miller and Officer Mulcahy. Miller drew a gun from his jacket and fatally wounded both officers.
Hirsche Miller was acquitted on August 30, 1920.
Officer Mulcahy was laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
