|Incident Details:||Police Officer John Keegan, 38, was a 5-month veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the West Madison Street Station.
On November 3, 1887, Officer Keegan checked in with his station at 11:45 p.m., at a patrol box near Albany and Van Buren Streets. At approximately 6:00 a.m., the officer was found dead by a young boy, near Albany Avenue and Polk Street. Officer Keegan had suffered a gun shot wound to the head.
Officer Keegan was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. He was survived by his wife, Mary, and their son.
