|Incident Details:||John Keough, 52, was a 20-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the Racine Avenue Station.
On January 29, 1929, Officer Keough was directing traffic at the Odgen Avenue Bridge when he saw a truck driver ignore a traffic signal. The officer ran into the street to stop the driver, Frank Monticello, when he slipped on ice and slid underneath the wheels of the truck. Officer Keough was transported to Alexian Brothers Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on January 31, 1929.
Frank Monticello, 27, was held.
Officer Keough was survived by his wife and five children.
