|Incident Details:||Police Officer John Mullen, 25, was assigned to the 29th Precinct.
On January 1, 1921, Officer Mullen responded to a call of an armed drunk man in an establishment at Well Street and Lincoln Avenue. Officer Mullen was arresting John McEvilry, when his friend Eddie Morris, drew a gun and shot the officer in the back. Officer Mullen succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
John McEvilry was acquitted. Eddie Morris was sentenced to life in prison.
Officer Mullen was laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
