||Police Officer Joseph Borcia, 52, was a 23-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the 024 District. On October 13, 1958, Officer Borcia was attending roll call when he and other members of the District learned of an armed intruder. Officer Borcia left the police station in another detective’s personal vehicle and was en route to the break-in when he was involved in a car accident. Officer Borcia and a squad car also responding to the call collided at the intersection of Touhy and Ashland Avenues. The officers in the squad car suffered minor injuries. The compact car Officer Borcia was driving crashed into a tree. Officer Borcia was transported to St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Officer Borcia is survived by his wife and daughter.
