|Incident Details:||Detective Joseph Sullivan, 28, was a 7-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the Detective Bureau.
On May 22, 1929, Detective Sullivan was found murdered outside of the notorious Joseph “Red” Bolton Saloon, in the 1600 block of West Polk Street. It is suspected that at the time of his death, Detective Sullivan was tracking down a lead in regards to the murder of fallen officer, Detective Raymond Martin.
Noone was ever arrested for Detective Sullivan’s murder.
Detective Sullivan’s funeral mass was held at St. Francis of Assisi Church and he was laid to rest in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
