||Police Officer Louis Cullotta, 29, was assigned to the Foster Avenue Station. On July 26, 1973, Officer Cullotta was working his part-time job at a restaurant in the 3600 block of North Tripp Avenue. As the officer stood behind the counter, George Lyons, entered the restaurant and shot him. Nearby officers heard the gunfire and apprehended Lyons as he fled. It is suspected that the motive behind the murder was that Officer Cullotta had previously interviewed Lyons, three years prior to the incident. Officer Cullotta was pronounced dead at Michael Weiss Hospital. Officer Cullota was laid to rest in Saint Joseph Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; and sons, Michael and James.
