|Incident Details:||Police Officer Maurice Marcusson, 34, was assigned to the Bureau of Identification.
On January 20, 1933, Officer Marcusson was detailed to the Market Loan Company located in the 300 block of West Jackson Boulevard. At approximately 5:00 p.m., the officer approached three suspicious men who were in the building. The officer attempted to speak to men when Tony Rocco drew a gun and fatally wounded him. Officer Marcusson was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital where he died on January 23.
Tony Rocco was found guilty and sentenced to 199 years in prison.
Officer Marcusson was laid to rest in Waldheim Cemetery. He was survived by his wife and two children.
