|Incident Details:||Police Officer Michael Callahan, 29, was assigned to the 29th Precinct.
On January 3, 1908, Officer Callahan was part of a team assembled to find the killers of fallen officer William Mooney. The officer attempted to question David Anderson, Bert McCagg, John Dennin, and Joseph Lemke, when Anderson opened fire and shot him three times. Officer Callahan opened fire and fatally injured McCagg. Officer Callahan was transported to Roosevelt Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
David Anderson was found guilty and sentenced to hang. Joseph Dennin was sentenced to 14 years in prison. Charges against Joseph Lemke were dropped.
Officer Callahan was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
