|Incident Details:||Police Officer Morgan Donahue, 29, was a 10-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the 20th Precinct.
On August 25, 1919, Officer Donahue was fatally wounded in a saloon at 59th Street and Halsted Street. Three saloon patrons carried the officer to Englewood Hospital and then fled. Officer Donahue died outside of the hospital.
Edward Hoffman, the proprietor of the saloon, was arrested for murder. A coroner’s grand jury ruled “No bill” in Hoffman’s case.
Officer Donahue was laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
