||Police Officer Patrick Crowley, 31, was a 10-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the 006 District – Tactical Team. On September 13, 1976, Officer Crowley and two additional officers were attempting to make an undercover drug bust. During the investigation, Officer Crowley was fatally wounded by William Lewis. Officer Crowley’s funeral mass was held at St. Adrian’s Catholic Church. He was survived by his parents, and wife, Joanne. On Thursday, December 18, 2014, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation chartered a bus and traveled with 21 uniformed Chicago police officers to the office of the IL Prisoner Review Board in Springfield to protest the release of inmate William Lewis. The inmate’s request for parole was denied and will not come before the IPRB again until 2017.
