|Incident Details:||Police Officer Patrick Madden, 54, was assigned to the Racine Avenue Station.
On November 20, 1932, Officer Madden and another officer responded to a report of gunfire near Walton and Holt Streets. When they arrived at the scene, other officers were placing Vernon Johnson and Stanley Pabish under arrest. Officer Madden was walking with Frank Bialek who had not been searched when Bialek began struggling with the officer. Bialek drew a gun and shot the officer. Officer Madden died at the scene.
Frank Bialek was sentenced to 99 years in prison. He was paroled after serving approximately 23 years.
Officer Madden’s funeral mass was held at St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital and he was laid to rest in All Saints Cmetery.
