|Incident Details:||Police Officer Patrick McGovern, 35, was a 9-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the 31st Precinct.
On June 22, 1925, Officer McGovern was escorting the treasuerer of the Pantheon Theatre to a local bank in order to make a deposit. As they walked near Ainslie Street at Sheridan Road, they were ambushed by three men waiting for them in an automobile. The offenders opened fire; Officer McGovern died instantly.
Officer McGovern was laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery. He was survived by his parents, sister, a CFD brother, and a CPD brother.
