|Incident Details:||Police Officer Philip Robinson, 29, was a 2-month veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the 3rd Precinct.
On August 21, 1887, Officer Robinson was on foot patrol when he saw two men chasing another man, Sing Lam. The men reported to the officer that Ling had shot another man. Officer Robinson joined the foot pursuit. At the corner of Austin and Sangamon Streets, Lam, turned around and shot the officer. Officer Robinson succumbed to his injuries on September 5.
Sing Lam was acquitted of Officer Robinson’s murder
Officer Robinson was laid to rest in Rosehill Cemetery. He was survived by his wife and two children.
