||Officer Raymond C. Kilroy, 47, was a 20-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the 025 District. On March 13, 1990, Officer Hauser and his partner, Officer Raymond Kilroy, 47, were dispatched to the home of Florence Zuniga for a domestic disturbance that involved her grandson, Ramon Chavez, 23. When the officers entered the home in the 2000 block of North Nordica Avenue, they interviewed Zuniga in her living room. After speaking to Zuniga, the officers entered the detached garage where Chavez was. As they questioned Chavez, he grabbed one of the officer’s service weapon and began shooting at them. He fled the scene and was apprehended hours later in the 2000 block of North Harlem Avenue. Officer Kilroy and Officer Hauser succumbed to their wounds at the scene. Ramon Chavez was convicted of first-degree murder, robbery, and disarming a peace officer. Chavez was sentenced to two terms of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Officer Kilroy’s funeral mass was held at St. Bartholomew’s Church and he was laid to rest in Ridgewood Cemetery. He is survived by his mother, Florence; sisters, Pearl and Arlene; and brother, Richard (CPD).
