|Incident Details:||Detective-Sergeant Robert Johnston was a 12-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department.
In August of 1925, Detective-Sergeant Johnston and his partner were interviewing two people when a man interjected himself into the situation. The officers told the man to leave, but he refused. Detective-Sergeant Johnston was placing him under arrest when a struggle ensued. During the struggle, the officer's leg was cut; later became infected. After several weeks, the cut would not heal and doctors amputated his leg. Detective-Sergeant Johnston died on July 20, 1926.
Detective-Sergeant Johnston was survived by his wife and two children.
