|Incident Details:||Police Officer Robert Love, 45, was a 12-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the West Park District Police.
On April 9, 1919, Officer Love was investigating reports of youths throwing rocks in Shedd Park at 23rd Street and Millard Avenue. The officer was struck and killed by a Burlington & Quincy Railroad train. It has been theorized that at the time of the incident the officer may have been in pursuit of the youths.
Officer Love was laid to rest in Rosehill Cemetery. He was survived by his wife and four children.
