|Incident Details:||Police Officer Thomas Carroll, 54, was a 20-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the Albany Park Station.
On March 20, 1949, Officer Thomas Carroll and his partner, Officer Henry Kosinski, transported a stroke victim to County Hospital in their squadrol. The elevators at the hospital were out-of-order and the officers carried the patient up a flight of stairs. After reaching the second-floor, Officer Carroll began to complain of chest pains. Officer Carroll suffered a fatal heart attack and died at Cook County Hospital.
Officer Carroll's funeral mass was held at St. Angela's Church and he was laid to rest in All Saints Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Helen; and children, Jeannette, Thomas, Margaret, and Helen.
