|Incident Details:||Detective Walter Lilly, 32, was a 16-month veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the Detective Bureau.
On February 28, 1928, Detective Lilly was parking his car in his garage when two armed robbers entered as the officer’s back was turned. The detective drew his revolver and was shot as he turned to face the offenders. Detective Lilly was rushed to Auburn Park Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Detective Lilly was laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery. He was survived by his wife, Lorraine.
