||Police Officer William Morrison, Jr., 51, was a 27-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the 016 District. On September 4, 1987, Officer Morrison and four other officers were working special employment for the Chicago Housing Authority. The officers were dispatched to a “man with a gun” call when their squad car was struck by drunk driver, Juan Soliz. Officer Morrison succumbed to his injuries at Cook County Hospital. Juan Soliz was found guilty of reckless homicide and driving under the influence. He was sentenced to three years in prison. Officer Morrison was laid to rest in All Saints Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mary, a son and two daughters.
